It's been decades since we both last visited Florida. 🏖️☀️ I have the fondest core family memories from FL when I was about Ollie's age - I remember alligators, beaches, theme parks and road trips with my parents and brother. But bringing my own family to a place I travelled to as a kid seemed so special, especially when heading to an area of Florida neither of us have ever explored. So here we are in, FORT LAUDERDALE, FL! We spent 3 days basking in the sunshine and discovering the hidden gems of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, a beautiful beachside town full of waving palm trees, sand, and family fun. We danced by the seaside, spent hours in the pool at @plungebeachresort, searched for sea turtles, ate Acai bowls and ice cream cones, and stayed up well past our bedtimes. Five things we learned while travelling as a famil

Five things we learned while travelling as a family to:📍Australia

1️⃣ - A direct flight to Australia (to Brisbane or Sydney!) from Vancouver with @AirCanada was a total game changer and made this entire journey a reality for us. Being able to get comfortable on our flight with all our gear without having to connect along the way was absolutely essential. It made the flight SO relaxed, (also helped that Ollie got so comfy he slept for 9 hours straight!) ✈️ @aircanada makes everything seamless when travelling with kiddos - what a dream!

2️⃣ - Less is more. We picked 3 places along the east coast of Australia to explore in depth instead of travelling all over the country. As tempting as it is to want to explore as much as possible, the trip will be more enjoyable if you’re not having to keep packing up and getting your kiddos back on the road.

3️⃣ - Set a goal of one fun outing a day. Everything else is bonus! If you’re anyone like us, you’ll want to create an itinerary jam packed with fun activities. As all parents know, things never go on time and kiddo temperaments are unpredictable. It can be really stressful trying to stick to a full schedule. We find setting our expectations for the day super low and choosing one activity makes things so enjoyable and eliminates the stress. That way, you get to stay relaxed and flexible based on your family’s needs. Anything extra you get to do is icing on the cake!👌

One of Vancouver Island’s most unique beaches. Botanical Beach is located in the town of Port Renfrew which takes about two hours by car from Victoria. Although it may not look like it on a map, it’s still quite far from Tofino! The hike down is super family friendly, so bring your kiddos to explore the incredible tide pools at low tide. If you plan on a visit to the island this year, put Botanical Beach on your list! 😊 #vancouverisland #portrenfrew #botanicalbeach
